Removal Procedure

Notice: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open pipes and passages.

Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  3. Caution: Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in the Preface section.

  4. Raise the vehicle.
  5. Drain the fuel from the vehicle. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  6. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel tank.

  8. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel filler pipe.
  9. Remove the fuel filler hose.
  10. Disconnect the vapor recirculation line at the fuel filler pipe.

  12. Remove the fuel filler pipe attaching screw (1) from the underbody.

  13. Object Number: 186665  Size: SH
  14. Remove the fuel filler pipe attaching screws (3) from the filler pipe access panel.

  15. Object Number: 32222  Size: SH
  16. Remove the fuel filler pipe.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fuel filler pipe.

  2. Object Number: 186665  Size: SH
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the fuel filler pipe attaching screws (3) to the filler pipe access panel.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

  6. Install the filler pipe attaching screw (1) to the underbody.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

  8. Connect the vapor recirculation line at the fuel filler pipe.
  9. Install the fuel filler hose.

  10. Object Number: 155468  Size: SH
  11. Tighten the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel tank.

  12. Object Number: 192082  Size: SH
  13. Tighten the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel filler pipe.

  14. Object Number: 186674  Size: SH
  15. Ensure filler hose (4) is fully seated on the fuel tank port and the fuel filler pipe (2).
  16. Ensure the clamp (1) is properly located on tank port between the bead (5) and the tank (3).
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the hose clamps to 2.5 N·m (22  lb in).

  18. Lower the vehicle.
  19. Connect the negative battery cable.
  20. Inspect for leaks.
  21. 12.1. Turn the ignition switch on for 2 seconds.
    12.2. Turn the ignition switch off for 10 seconds.
    12.3. Turn the ignition switch on.
    12.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
