Removal Procedure
- Remove the left instrument
panel sound insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
- Disconnect the accelerator cable (5) from accelerator pedal (1).
- Remove the bolts (3) and studs (2) that retain the
accelerator pedal to the bulk head (4).
- Remove the accelerator pedal.
Installation Procedure
Important: The throttle should operate freely without binding between a full closed
and a wide open throttle.
- Install the accelerator
pedal (1) to the bulkhead (4).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Reinstall the accelerator
pedal bolt (3) and the stud (2).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts and studs to 3 N·m (27 lb in)
- Connect the accelerator cable (5) to the accelerator pedal (1).
- Test for proper throttle opening and closing by operating the
accelerator pedal. Also, inspect for proper carpet fit under the accelerator
pedal.
- Reinstall the left instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
