Removal Procedure
- Remove the instrument panel compartment latch and handle. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Latch Replacement .
- Insert the key into the instrument panel compartment lock cylinder.
- With the key in position, apply a light load and depress the retainer tumbler through the poke hole, at top of the instrument panel compartment handle.
- Rotate the key counter clockwise until the instrument panel compartment lock cylinder rotates to about the 9 o'clock position, to line up the notch at rear of instrument panel compartment lock cylinder with tab in the instrument panel compartment handle.
- Remove the instrument panel compartment lock cylinder and key from the instrument panel compartment handle.
Installation Procedure
- Depress the rear most, light colored, tumbler flush with instrument panel compartment lock cylinder surface and insert the key. All the tumblers will now stay depressed.
- Insert the instrument panel compartment lock cylinder, with the key inserted into the instrument panel compartment latch housing at approximately the 9 o'clock position.
- Rotate the key clockwise until it stops.
- Remove the key.
- Install the instrument panel compartment latch. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Latch Replacement .
The instrument panel compartment lock cylinder will drop into place.
The instrument panel compartment lock cylinder is now locked into the instrument panel compartment latch housing.
