Door Hinge Replacement All

Removal Procedure

Important: 

   • In order to minimize door realignment, do not remove both door hinges at the same time. Do each door hinge separately, and replace the broken door hinge first.
   • Do not loosen the cone adjuster bolt (10-mm hex head), the cone could fall down inside the pillar and create a rattle situation.

  1. Open the door.
  2. Clean the mounting surfaces with a rag and mark the door hinge locations on each surface with a grease pencil or other suitable marker.
  3. Support the door.

  5. Remove the hinge bolts (1) from the door.

  6. Object Number: 166403  Size: SH
  7. Remove the hinge bolts from the body.
  8. Remove the door hinge.

Installation Procedure

  1. Align the door hinge to the body and the door.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Loctite® Blue, GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent should be used on the bolts prior to installation.

  3. Install the hinge bolts (1) to the door.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the door side hinge bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

    Object Number: 166403  Size: SH
  5. Install the hinge bolts to the body.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the body side hinge bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  7. Remove the door support.
  8. Close the door.
  9. check the door alignment.

  10. Adjust the door as required. Refer to Door Adjustment .
