Removal Procedure
  1. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the power steering rack and pinion and support the power steering rack and pinion from the exhaust pipe. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement Power Steering System.
  4. Remove the transaxle mount lower nuts. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement .
  5. Remove the engine mount lower nuts. Refer to Engine Front Mount Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  6. Remove the power steering cooler pipe from the right side of the frame.
  7. Support the rear of the frame with a jackstand.
  8. Loosen the rear frame bolts. Refer to Frame Replacement in Frame and Underbody.
  9. Adjust the jackstand to lower the rear of the frame.
  10. Position a drain pan under the forward servo cover.

  11. Remove the forward servo cover bolts.
  12. Remove the following components:
    13. 12.1. Cover
    12.2. O-ring
    12.3. Piston Assembly
    12.4. Spring

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 164777 Size: SH
  1. Install the following components:
    2. 1.1. Spring
    1.2. Piston Assembly
    1.3. O-ring
    1.4. Cover

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the forward servo cover attaching bolts.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  3. Remove the drain pan from under the forward servo cover.
  4. Adjust the jackstand to raise the rear of the frame.
  5. Install the frame bolts. Refer to Frame Replacement in Frame and Underbody.
  6. Remove the support from the rear of the frame.
  7. Install the power steering cooler pipe to the right side of the frame.
  8. Install the engine mount lower nuts. Refer to Engine Front Mount Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  9. Install the transaxle mount lower nuts. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement .
  10. Install the power steering rack and pinion. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement in Power Steering System.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Remove the engine support fixture.
  13. Check and fill the transaxle as necessary.

    14. Important: It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.

    Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, The ECM, PCM or TCM will need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.

  14. Reset the TAP values. Refer to Adapt Function .
