J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

Caution: To avoid being burned, do not remove the radiator cap or surge tank cap while the engine is hot. The cooling system will release scalding fluid and steam under pressure if radiator cap or surge tank cap is removed while the engine and radiator are still hot.

    Notice: When adding coolant, use DEX-COOL® coolant. If silicated coolant is added to the system, premature engine, heater core or radiator corrosion may result. In addition, the engine coolant will require change sooner-at 50 000 km (30,000 mi) or 24 months.

  1. Partially drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  2. Object Number: 289176  Size: SH
  3. Reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp from the surge tank use J 38185 .
  4. Remove the surge tank outlet hose from the surge tank.

  5. Object Number: 289178  Size: SH
  6. Reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp from the thermostat housing use J 38185 .
  7. Remove the surge tank outlet hose from the thermostat housing.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 289178  Size: SH
  1. Install the surge tank outlet hose to the thermostat housing.
  2. Install the surge tank outlet hose clamp to the thermostat housing use J 38185 .

  3. Object Number: 289176  Size: SH
  4. Install the surge tank outlet hose to the surge tank.
  5. Install the surge tank outlet hose clamp to the surge tank use J 38185 .
  6. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
