Removal Procedure

Notice: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open pipes and passages.

Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing the fuel system components.

  1. Remove the fuel filler pipe screws from the fuel filler pipe access panel.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 155468  Size: SH
  4. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp from the fuel tank.
  5. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp from the fuel filler pipe.
  6. Remove the fuel filler hose.

  7. Object Number: 192082  Size: SH
  8. Remove the vapor recirculation line from the fuel filler pipe.

  9. Object Number: 699550  Size: SH
  10. Remove the fuel filler pipe screw from the under body.
  11. Remove the fuel filler pipe.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 699550  Size: SH
  1. Install the fuel filler pipe.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fuel filler pipe screw to the under body.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the vapor recirculation line to the fuel filler pipe.

  6. Object Number: 155468  Size: SH
  7. Install the fuel filler hose.
  8. Inspect and ensure that the filler hose is fully seated on fuel tank port and the fuel filler pipe.
  9. Ensure that the clamp is properly located on the tank port between the bead and the tank.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel tank filler hose clamps to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  11. Lower the vehicle.

  13. Install the fuel filler pipe screws to the fuel filler pipe access panel.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  15. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
  16. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  17. Inspect the fuel system for leaks by performing the following steps:
  18. 11.1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
    11.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    11.3. Turn ON the ignition.
    11.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
