Removal Procedure

Notice: Do not use solvent of any type when cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as damage to the gasket surfaces and throttle body assembly may result.

Use care in cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as sharp tools may damage the gasket surfaces.

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.5L.
  2. Partially drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 295303 Size: SH
  1. Install a new gasket (2), and new studs if necessary.
  2. Install the throttle body assembly (3).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the throttle body nut.
  5. Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the accelerator controls cable bracket. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Bracket Replacement .
  7. Install the throttle body coolant hoses to the throttle body.

  8. Object Number: 233873 Size: SH
  9. Install the throttle body vacuum port hose (1).
  10. Install the PCV valve hose (2).

  11. Object Number: 292672 Size: SH
  12. Install the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose (1).

  13. Object Number: 290670 Size: SH
  14. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector (4).
  15. Install the TP sensor electrical connector (3).
  16. Important: The throttle should operate freely without binding between full closed and wide open throttle (WOT).

  17. Verify the complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal.
  18. Install the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .
  19. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
