Removal Procedure
- Remove the left instrument
panel (IP) insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Remove the accelerator controls cable (5) from
the accelerator controls pedal (1).
- Remove the bolt (3) and the stud (2) that retain
the accelerator controls pedal to the bulkhead (4).
- Remove the accelerator controls pedal.
Installation Procedure
- Install the accelerator
controls pedal (1) to the bulkhead (4).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the accelerator controls pedal bolt (3) and the stud (2).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt and the stud to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Install the accelerator controls cable (5) to the accelerator
controls pedal (1).
Important: The throttle should operate freely and without binding between full
closed and wide open throttle.
- Verify the complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating
the accelerator pedal. Also verify a correct carpet fit under the accelerator
controls pedal.
- Install the left IP insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
in Instrument Panel,
Gages, and Console.
