Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 12287  Size: SH
  1. Remove the left instrument panel (IP) insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  2. Remove the accelerator controls cable (5) from the accelerator controls pedal (1).
  3. Remove the bolt (3) and the stud (2) that retain the accelerator controls pedal to the bulkhead (4).
  4. Remove the accelerator controls pedal.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the accelerator controls pedal (1) to the bulkhead (4).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the accelerator controls pedal bolt (3) and the stud (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt and the stud to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  5. Install the accelerator controls cable (5) to the accelerator controls pedal (1).
  6. Important: The throttle should operate freely and without binding between full closed and wide open throttle.

  7. Verify the complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also verify a correct carpet fit under the accelerator controls pedal.
  8. Install the left IP insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
