Removal Procedure
  1. Set the parking brakes and block the wheels.
  2. Remove the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

    3. Object Number: 161226 Size: SH
  3. Disconnect and remove the park lock cable from the console shift control and bracket.

    4. Object Number: 161224 Size: SH
  4. Remove the park lock cable from beneath the heater duct.
  5. Remove the park lock cable from behind the accelerator pedal linkage and accelerator pedal bracket.
  6. Disconnect the park lock cable from the pedal bracket.
  7. Remove the knee bolster bracket in order to gain access to the bottom of the ignition switch. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  8. Place the ignition switch in the ACC position.

  9. Depress the tab in order to unlock the park lock cable from the ignition switch.
  10. Disconnect and remove the park lock cable.

Installation Procedure
  1. Place the ignition switch in the ACC position.

    2. Object Number: 161227 Size: SH
  2. Install and connect the park lock cable to the ignition switch.

    3. Object Number: 161224 Size: SH

    Important: Do not bend the cable less than a 102 mm (4 in) radius during installation, the cable is not to be kinked or damaged.

  3. Connect the park lock cable to the pedal bracket.
  4. Install and route the park lock cable behind the accelerator pedal linkage and accelerator pedal bracket.
  5. Install and route the park lock cable beneath the heater duct.

  6. Install and connect the park lock cable to the console shift control and bracket.
  7. Verify the function of the park lock system. Refer to Park Lock Cable Adjustment .
  8. Install the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Console and Gages.
  9. Install the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  10. Release the parking brakes and unblock the wheels.
