Removal Procedure

Important: 

   • In order to minimize door misalignment, do not remove both door hinges at the same time. Do each door hinge separately, and replace the broken door hinge first.
   • If the front door, do not loosen the cone adjuster bolt, the cone can drop down inside the pillar and create a rattle situation.

  1. Remove the door.
  2. Clean the mounting surfaces and use a grease pencil in order to mark the door hinge locations on each surface.

  4. Remove the door hinge to door bolts (2).

  5. Object Number: 166403  Size: SH
  6. Remove the door hinge to body bolts.
  7. Remove the door hinge from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Align the door hinge to the body and to the door.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.


    Object Number: 656127  Size: SH
  3. Apply Loctite® Blue, GM P/N 12345382, Canadian P/N 10953489 or equivalent to the door hinge bolts.
  4. Install the door hinge to door bolts (2).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  6. Install the door hinge to body bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  8. Install the door.
  9. Adjust the door as required. Refer to Front Side Door Adjustment or to Rear Door Adjustment .
