J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

1. Remove the push-in retainers from the bottom of rocker panel molding from the rocker panel using J 38778 .
2. Open the doors to access the plastic rivits in the sill area.
3. Drill out the plastic rivits from the top inside edge of rocker panel molding sill area.
4. Remove the rocker panel molding to fender screws from the rocker panel molding at the fenders.
5. Remove the rocker panel molding from the rocker panel.

1. Position the rocker panel molding to the rocker panel.
2. Install the push-in retainers to the bottom rocker panel molding slots and into the bottom of the rocker panel.
3. Using new plastic rivits,install the plastic rivits to the rocker panel molding and into the sill area.
4. Close the doors.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

5. Install the rocker panel molding to fender screws to the rocker panel molding at the fenders.

Tighten
Tighten the rocker panel molding to fender screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
