CHANGE ENGINE OIL

The IPC illuminates the CHANGE OIL indicator when the powertrain control module (PCM) determines that the engine oil should be changed. The IPC receives a class 2 message indicating the engine oil life from the PCM. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.

LOW FUEL

The IPC illuminates the low fuel indicator when the IPC detects that the fuel level is less than 12 %. The IPC receives a class 2 message indicating fuel level percent from the PCM.

LOW OIL LEVEL

The IPC illuminates the LOW OIL indicator when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects low engine oil level, and the signal circuit is high. The PCM only monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil level switch for a brief period when the key moves from ON to START. The IPC receives a class 2 message requesting illumination via from the PCM.

LOW OIL PRESSURE

The IPC illuminates the LOW OIL PRESSURE indicator in the when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects low engine oil pressure, and the signal circuit is low. The IPC receives a class 2 requesting illumination message from the PCM.

SERVICE VEHICLE SOON

The IPC illuminates the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects certain malfunctions that are not related to the emissions system. The IPC receives a class 2 message requesting illumination from the PCM.
