Inoperative Cruise Control Switch Light (Install Ground Jumper Wire)

Some customers may comment that the cruise control switch light does not come on when the button is pressed.

Install a ground wire to the IP harness. Use the procedure listed below.

1. Fabricate a ground jumper wire.

•	Obtain standard stock 20 gauge black wire and cut to a length of 483 mm (19 in).

•	Obtain ring terminal, P/N 12089496, and male terminal, P/N 12059894, from your Delphi Terminal Repair kit J 38125.

•	Strip 5 mm (3/16 in) of insulation from each end of the wire.

•	Crimp the ring terminal, P/N 12089496, to one end of the wire.

•	Crimp the male terminal, P/N 12059894, to the other end of the wire.

•	Solder all crimps with rosin core solder.

2. Remove the LH sound insulator/closeout panel.



3. Locate and remove the 8-way redundant controls connector (1) from the IP harness bracket.
4. Separate the connector halves.
5. On the IP harness side, insert the male terminal of the ground jumper wire into cavity F of the connector.
6. Install the connector halves.
7. Install the connector to the IP harness bracket.



8. Remove the LH rear knee bolster bracket bolt (1).
9. Attach the ring terminal to the bolt and install the bolt to the knee bolster bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

10. Carefully secure the wire to the IP harness with tape, ensuring proper routing and clearance from sharp objects or pinch points.
11. Install the LH sound insulator/closeout panel.
