CONSOLE CUP HOLDER/ASHTRAY LATCH PIN BREAKAGE

SUBJECT: CONSOLE CUP HOLDER OR ASHTRAY LATCH PIN FOLLOWER BREAKAGE (INSTALL NEW LATCH)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1991 C MODEL

A condition where the console mounted ashtray or cup holder will not latch may be encountered on the 1991 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Touring Sedan due to a broken latch.

To correct this condition, a new latch (Part Number 12519354) has been released.

The following procedure should be used to replace this latch:

1. Remove the fuse for the console wiring. 2. Remove the console compartment. 3. Remove the console centre section. 4. Remove the latch pin by lifting latch arm to remove the round pin from the mounting hole. Turn the latch to remove the latch pin end from the console centre section. 5. Reverse above procedure to install.
