Removal Procedure

Ignition Coils Only

  1. Remove the engine dress cover.
  2. Remove the right engine dress cover mounting bracket.
  3. Remove the spark plug wires for corresponding ignition coils at ignition control module (ICM) assembly.
  4. Remove the ignition coil retaining bolts (2 per coil).
  5. Remove the coil from the ICM assembly.

Installation Procedure

Ignition Coils Only

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the ignition coil to the ICM assembly with the 2 retaining bolts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 retaining bolts to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  3. Install the spark plug wires at the ICM assembly.
  4. Install the right engine dress cover mounting bracket.
  5. Install the engine dress cover.
