STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS

MODELS/YEARS 1990 TORONADO

In response to customer demands, a thicker leather wheel was introduced as standard equipment on all 1990 Toronados and Trofeos. This was done as a mid-year change. All vehicles produced with VIN sequence number LU309062 or greater have a thick rim steering wheel.

In order for the steering system to accommodate this heavier steering wheel, the steering cylinder lines on all vehicles produced with VIN sequence number LU309062 or greater include restrictors to limit power steering fluid flow and dampen movement of the steering wheel.

If steering wheel replacement is necessary, follow the instructions below when ordering parts. For VIN sequence number LU300000 to LU309061, a thin rim steering wheel should be ordered. Once stock is depleted, the thicker rim steering wheel may be used if the steering cylinder lines are also changed to include restrictors.

For VIN sequence number LU309062 or greater, a thick rim steering wheel should be ordered and no steering line modifications need be done.

The chart on the back of this bulletin should be referenced when replacing a steering wheel.
