Subject: | Radio Theftlock® LED Is Disabled (Reprogram Radio with Scan Tool) |
Models: | 2001 Pontiac Aztek |
Built before December 1, 2000 |
This bulletin is being revised to include a new service procedure now available to enable the Theftlock® LED on the front panel of the radio. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 00-08-44-009 (Section 08 -- Body and Accessories).
The radio Theftlock® LED may not operate as described in the Owner's Manual. The radio will automatically secure itself as stated in the Owner's Manual, but the LED will not flash, as is common in other GM products.
The radio may have been programmed at the factory to disable the flashing LED. This was the design intent for this vehicle as the dashtop LED was intended as a higher visibility alert to thieves.
If the customer requests, the radio may be reprogrammed to flash the Theftlock® LED using the Tech 2 Scan Tool as described below:
Important: The next screen will give you specific instructions for radio options. The ENTER key will toggle an asterisk ON and OFF indicating that a feature is enabled or disabled.
For vehicles repaired under warranty, use:
