Dings (Dimples) in Roof Sheet Metal (Install New Overhead Console Retaining Clips)

Some customers may comment on dimples in the roof above the overhead console.

The retaining bolts may pass though the plastic retainer and make contact with the exterior roof panel as seen in the illustration above.

1. Remove the over head console. Refer to SI document ID #1175926, Console Replacement-Overhead.
2. With a flat blade screw driver, remove the plastic retaining clips in the roof crossbow.



3. Remove the nipple in the center of the spacer using a utility knife as seen in the illustration above.



4. Install the spacer under the plastic panel to the roof crossbow as seen in the illustration above. The plastic spacer (retainer) is taller and does not allow the bolt to make contact with the roof.
5. Install the overhead console. Refer to SI document ID  #1175926, Console Replacement-Overhead.
6. Remove the luggage carrier. See document ID #735219, Luggage Carrier Replacement.
7. Repair the two out dings in the roof panel.
