A condition of windshield streaking from wiper blade kink, caused by contact to the centre screw of the lower windshield reveal moulding, may be found on some 1989 Pontiac Bonneville models.
This condition occurs due to build variations where the wipers park low and the lower reveal moulding is positioned high.
If the wiper is streaking and the blade has a kink caused by parking on the centre screw, perform the following repair procedures.
1. Check the centre screw in the lower reveal moulding. If it is hex head screw, replace it with a flat head cross drive screw, Part Number 11509083. See Illustration.
2. Replace driver's side wiper blade.
3. Operate wipers and verify that screw does not kink blade when wiper is parked.
Use existing Labour Operation to replace wiper blade; includes replacement screw if necessary.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
