REVISION: 12/09/94
THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO DELETE THE OLDSMOBILE AURORA AND ANY REFERENCE TO THE AUTOMATIC ELECTRONIC CLIMATE CONTROL (AECC) AND TO ADD THE 1994 MODEL YEAR FOR OLDSMOBILE "C/H". ----------------------------------------------------------------------
TO GAIN FEEDBACK ON THE NEW ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTATION, A PARTS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC). THIS PROGRAM WILL TERMINATE BY NO LATER THAN THE END OF THE 1995 MODEL YEAR. IT IS CRITICAL THAT ALL REMOVED PARTS BE PROMPTLY RETURNED.
THE PROGRAM WILL BE ADMINISTERED BY DIVISIONAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CENTERS AND APPLY TO THE FOLLOWING PART NUMBERS:
OLDSMOBILE "C/H" - IPC - GAGE (1994-95): 16159193 IPC - V/F (1995): 16198293
PONTIAC "H" - IPC - (1995): 16189522 IPC - (1995): 16189542
IF YOUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES AN OWNER CONCERN ON THE IPC, FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE BELOW:
A. DIAGNOSIS
FOLLOW ALL NECESSARY SYSTEM CHECKS, TROUBLE SHOOTING HINTS, AND DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE SHOOTING CHARTS IN THE APPROPRIATE SECTION OF THE SERVICE MANUAL. RECORD ALL FINDINGS INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, INITIAL OWNER CONCERN, DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES), OTHER RELATED REPAIRS PERFORMED, AND SERVICE MANUAL PAGE NUMBERS REFERENCED WHILE PERFORMING DIAGNOSTICS.
B. PARTS ORDERING
ONCE THE ABOVE DIAGNOSTICS ARE COMPLETE AND A REPLACEMENT PART IS DEEMED NECESSARY, CALL THE DIVISIONAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GROUP.
- TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CENTERS WILL REQUIRE THE VIN, TECHNICIAN'S NAME, DEALER CODE, PREFERRED AC DELCO EXCHANGE CENTER, AND THE FORE MENTIONED DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION.
- THE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CENTER WILL REQUIRE THE DEALER TO PROVIDE THE PREFERRED AC DELCO EXCHANGE CENTER. THE AC DELCO EXCHANGE CENTER WILL PROCESS AND SHIP THE ORDER FOR NEXT DAY DELIVERY. THE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CENTER WILL ALSO PROVIDE A CASE REFERENCE NUMBER. THE EXCHANGED UNIT MUST BE RETURNED TO THE AC DELCO EXCHANGE CENTER WITH A COPY OF THE REPAIR ORDER (INCLUDING CASE REFERENCE NUMBER) TO AID IN PRODUCT ANALYSIS.
FOLLOWING THIS PROCEDURE WILL ENSURE THE SUCCESS OF THIS PROGRAM AND ALLOW FOR THE CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT OF THESE PRODUCTS.
C. THEFT, CRASH OR FIRE DAMAGE
FOR THOSE CASES DEALING WITH THEFT, FIRE OR CRASH DAMAGE, THE DEALER WILL BE SHIPPED A NEW IPC ASSEMBLY BUT MUST STILL CONTACT THEIR DIVISIONAL TAS CENTER. THE TAS CENTER WILL NEED TO KNOW THAT THE REQUESTED PART IS NEEDED FOR THEFT, FIRE OR CRASH DAMAGE.

PROPERLY TRAINED TECHNICIANS HAVE THE EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AND KNOW-HOW TO DO A JOB PROPERLY AND SAFELY. IF A CONDITION IS DESCRIBED, DO NOT ASSUME THAT THE BULLETIN APPLIES TO YOUR VEHICLE, OR THAT YOUR VEHICLE WILL HAVE THAT CONDITION.
