J 24319-B Universial Steering Linkage Puller

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear suspension support assembly. Refer to Support Replacement .
  3. Remove the automatic level control height sensor link on the left control arm.

  4. Object Number: 155716  Size: SH
  5. Remove the stabilizer link bolt and the nut.
  6. Disconnect the antilock brake electrical connector.
  7. Remove the wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 397546  Size: SH
  9. Remove the adjustment link retaining nut.

  10. Object Number: 643351  Size: SH
  11. Using J 24319-B separate the adjustment link from the control arm.

  12. Object Number: 155736  Size: SH
  13. Remove the bolts and the nuts securing the control arm to the rear suspension support assembly.
  14. Remove the control arm.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 155736  Size: SH
  1. Install the control arm to the rear suspension support assembly.
  2. Important: Tighten the control arm nuts with the vehicle supported and resting on the wheels at the normal trim height.

  3. Install the bolts and the nuts.
  4. Install the wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .
  5. Connect the antilock brake electrical connector.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the adjustment link retaining nut.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the adjustment link retaining nut to 50 N·m (36 lb ft).

  9. Install the stabilizer link bolt and the nut.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the stabilizer shaft link nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  11. Install the automatic level control height sensor link on the left control arm.
  12. Install the rear suspension support assembly. Refer to Support Replacement .
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the control arm nuts to 106 N·m (78 lb ft).
