Removal Procedure

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

  3. Remove the electrical connector from the automatic transmission shift lock control.
  4. Being careful pry the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator from steering column.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 324906 Size: SH
  1. Install the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator to the steering column.
  2. Connect the electrical connector to the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator.

    3. Object Number: 324912 Size: SH
  3. Adjust the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator.
    4. • Pull the tab (1) out on the block side of the automatic transmission shift lock control actuator.
    • Shift the column into the neutral position.
    • Press on the adjuster block (2) to compress the internal adjuster spring to disengage the adjuster teeth.
    • Slide the adjuster block (2) as far away from the solenoid as possible.
    • Shift into the park position.
    • Lock in place by pushing the tab (2) back in.
  4. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
