Removal Procedure
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  3. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  4. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
  5. Remove the Shift Lever. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .

  6. Remove the automatic transmission shift lock actuator from the linear shift assembly.

    7. Object Number: 746041 Size: SH
  7. Remove the transmission shift cable from the linear shift assembly.

    8. Object Number: 324874 Size: SH
  8. Ensure the Ignition switch is in the off lock position
  9. Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).
  10. Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the lock module assembly and push against the locking tab to remove.

  11. Remove the flat head tapping screw from the linear shift assembly.
  12. Remove the linear shift assembly.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 324916 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the linear shift assembly and the tapping screws.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the tapping screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  2. Connect the park lock cable assembly (1) to the lock module assembly.

  3. Install the automatic transmission shift lock actuator.

    4. Object Number: 746041 Size: SH
  4. Install the shift cable to the linear shift assembly.
  5. Adjust the automatic transmission shift lock. Refer to Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Actuator Replacement in Shift Lock Control.
  6. Install the shift lever. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .
  7. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
  8. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement in SIR.
  9. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  10. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
