Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems

1. Cover the sunload sensor assembly.
2. Turn ON the courtesy lamps.
3. Open and close the I/P compartment.
4. Observe the I/P compartment lamp.

Does the I/P compartment lamp operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the courtesy lamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy Lamps Always On and Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

1. Remove the bulb from the I/P compartment lamp.
2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
3. Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp bulb and the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp bulb.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 5

1. Disconnect the I/P compartment lamp and switch connector.
2. Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp and switch and the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp and switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 6

Test the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp and switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the bulb of the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 10

Inspect for poor connections at the connector of the I/P compartment lamp and switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 11

Repair the open in the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp and switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Replace the I/P compartment lamp bulb. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Bulb Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 12

Replace the I/P compartment lamp and switch assembly.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 12

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
