Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 640498  Size: SH
  1. Open the rear compartment.
  2. Lower enough of the rear compartment lid trim panel to access the high mounted stoplamp. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement in Body Rear End.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the high mounted stop lamp.
  4. Remove the high mounted stop lamp fastener.

  6. Remove the fastener bracket (2).
  7. Press the retaining tabs (1) inward.
  8. Remove the high mounted stoplamp from the rear compartment lid.
  9. Remove the stoplamp seal from the rear compartment lid.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 640499  Size: SH
  1. Install the seal to the stoplamp.
  2. Align the high mounted stoplamp to the rear compartment lid.
  3. Firmly press the stoplamp into the rear compartment lid until the retaining tabs (1) click into place.
  4. Install the fastener bracket (2)
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the high mounted stoplamp fastener.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  8. Connect the electrical connector to the high mounted stoplamp.
  9. Install the rear compartment lid trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement in Body Rear End.
  10. Close the rear compartment lid.
