Removal Procedure
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
- Remove the instrument panel (IP) carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement .
- Remove the parking brake pedal assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement in Park Brake.
- Remove the fasteners from the left IP end bracket to the hinge pillar.
- Remove the left IP end bracket.
- Remove the fasteners from the right IP end bracket to the hinge pillar.
- Remove the left IP end bracket.
Caution: When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
Installation Procedure
- Install the left IP end bracket to the hinge pillar.
- Install the fasteners to the left IP end bracket.
- Install the right IP end bracket to the hinge pillar.
- Install the fasteners to the right IP end bracket.
- Install the parking brake pedal assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement in Park Brake.
- Install the IP carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement .
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 50 N·m (37 lb in).
