Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the fog lamps.
  3. Turn ON and OFF the fog lamps.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition.

Did the fog lamps operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Front Fog Lamp Switch input parameter in the instrument panel module (IPM) with CJ2 or climate control panel (CCP) with C67 Non-HVAC data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Front Fog Lamp Switch is OFF?

Go to Step 4

With a scan tool, observe the Front Fog Lamp Relay control status in the dash integration module (DIM) Outputs data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the fog lamp relay is OFF?

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the FOG LP relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Did the fog lamps turn OFF?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the control side supply voltage circuit of the FOG LP relay and the fog lamp relay control circuit of the FOG LP relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the fog lamp switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool observe the fog lamp switch input status.

Does the scan tool indicate the fog lamp switch is OFF?

Test for a short to ground in the fog lamp relay control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 20

Test the fog lamp switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the fog lamp switch signal circuit for high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the DIM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the IPM with CJ2 or the HVAC control module (CCP) with C67. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the short to battery positive voltage in the fog lamp supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Important:: After replacement perform the setup procedure for the DIM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Replace the DIM. Refer to Dash Integration Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Important:: After replacement perform the setup procedure for the IPM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Replace the IPM with CJ2 or HVAC control module (CCP) with C67. Refer to Instrument Panel Module Replacement in Body Control System or HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.

Replace the fog lamp switch. Refer to Fog Lamp Switch Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
