The passenger window lock out switch that failed and generated this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is a built in part of the driver door switch assembly (DDSA). Their are no external circuits. The DDSA contains a microprocessor which takes the signal generated by this switch and its contacts and assigns a digital message to it. The DDSA then sends this message, via the power door serial data circuit, to the driver door module (DDM).
The DDM must be powered and must not have DTCs B1327-Battery Low Voltage or B1328-Battery High Voltage set for this DTC to set.
If the driver door module (DDM) receives the message that the lockout switch circuit is closed for more than 30 continuous seconds, the DDM sets this DTC.
When the lockout switch DTC is set, the DDSA and DDM default to the last valid lockout switch input. If the last valid input was to enable lock out, the indicator LED will be lit, the lockout function will be enabled, and the passenger windows will not operate from their respective passenger door window switch. If the last valid input was to disable lock out, the indicator LED will not be lit, the lockout function will be disabled, and the passenger windows will still operate from their respective passenger door window switch.
The DDM clears this current DTC when the failed switch signal is no longer received. The DTC is stored as a history DTC. The history DTC will clear either after 50 OFF/ON cycles of the ignition switch without a repeated failure or in response to a scan tool command.
The passenger window lockout switch is a momentary type switch. On a normally functioning system with no failures present, the lockout function is not enabled when the ignition is first turned ON. Once the ignition is turned ON, the lockout switch button is pressed once to activate the feature. A second press of the switch button deactivates the feature. Each succeeding press of the switch button causes the lockout function to change to that state which is opposite of the current state. For example, if the lockout function were enabled, the next press of the switch button would disable the feature. The lockout switch button has a LED indicator in it which illuminates when the feature has been enabled.
