FLOOR MAT RETENTION INSTALL 'VELCRO' STRIP

To improve customer satisfaction with the optional floor mats used on 1984 Pontiac Fieros, a "velcro" strip has been added to the mats in production to maintain their installed position.

Fiero models built after January 1984, have the new mats with the "velcro" strip sewn on the rear underside.

If encountering comments of mat movement, or bunching, the "velcro" strip can be added to the optional mat using the following procedure:

Purchase "velcro" (#50 hook) or equivalent hook fastener from any hardware or fabric store. ("Velcro" trade name is used in production for Fiero mats.)

Strips of fastener material should be cut into 1" X 12" sections. Only the hook portion of the hook and loop material needs to be used; the vehicle carpet will serve adequately as the loop or receiver of the hook.

Have a trim shop sew in the hook strip along both sides of the 12 inch section. Add to both left and right mats and attach to the mats underside as far rearward as possible.

Position the mats rearward adjacent to the seat anchor tracks and firmly press the sewn section to assure adherence.
