1984 FIERO
A condition in some 1984 Fiero engine electrical wiring may allow the engine cooling fan and air conditioning compressor to function erratically:
Air conditioning compressor may cycle too frequently due to engine motion or vehicle movement over bumpy roads;
Engine cooling fan may cycle too frequently under the same conditions.
The above conditions may be caused by wires that may be out of their protective plastic shield and contact the engine water pump pulley.
The conditions can be corrected by repairing these wires and rerouting them into their plastic shield. Be certain that all six fingers of the shield are locked into place.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
