Some early built Fieros are equipped with an oil light only. Mid-early Fiero production vehicles will be equipped with a dual function coolant temperature system. In addition to the coolant temperature gauge, a light to identify a possible overheating concern is located above the temperature gauge and has been combined with the oil pressure light.
If the light is activated, check your coolant temperature gauge to verify if an overheating problem exists. If the temperature gauge indicates high coolant temperature, follow the Fiero Service Manual, Section 6B. If the light is activated, but the temperature gauge does not indicate abnormally high temperature, follow the instructions under Section 6A in the Fiero Service Manual.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
