Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Suitably support the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
  2. Remove the starter motor. For the 3800 VIN K, refer to Starter Motor Replacement

  3. Object Number: 13902  Size: SH
  4. Remove the converter cover bolts.
  5. Remove the converter cover from the automatic transmission.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 13902  Size: SH
  1. Install the converter cover to the automatic transmission.
  2. Install the converter cover bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts on the 3800 VIN K equipped vehicles to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

    Tighten
    Tighten to bolts on the 5.7L VIN P equipped vehicles to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the starter motor. For the 3800 VIN K, refer to Starter Motor Replacement
  5. Lower the vehicle.
