Removal Procedure

Important: The automatic transmission control lever solenoid is a part of the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) system. The solenoid prevents the operator from shifting the automatic transmission control out of the (P) Park position unless the brake pedal is depressed.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Remove the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

  3. Object Number: 38108  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector from the shift lock control solenoid.

  5. Object Number: 38110  Size: SH
  6. Remove the shift lock control solenoid by unsnapping the retainers.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 38110  Size: SH
  1. Install the shift lock control solenoid. Snap the retainers into place.

  2. Object Number: 38108  Size: SH
  3. Connect the electrical connector to the shift lock control solenoid.
  4. Install the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
