Important: Do not allow the starter to crank longer than 15 seconds. Damage to
the starter may occur.
- Attach a 30A fused jumper between the theft deterrent relay terminals
C1 and A2.
- Place the transmission in PARK or NEUTRAL (automatic) or press
the clutch pedal (manual).
- Turn the ignition switch to START.

- Check for an open in circuit 269 from the theft deterrent relay
terminal C2 to the transmission range switch terminal F (automatic) or the
clutch pedal position switch terminal A (manual).
- Check for a poor connection at the transmission range switch (automatic)
or the clutch pedal position switch (manual).
- Check for an open in circuit 5 from the transmission range switch
terminal E (automatic) or the clutch pedal position switch terminal B (manual)
to S223.
- If OK, adjust or replace the transmission range switch. Refer
to Section 7A

- With the fused jumper still connected, connect a test lamp from
the starter solenoid terminal S to ground.
- Place the transmission in PARK or NEUTRAL (automatic) or press
the clutch pedal (manual).
- Turn the ignition switch to START.
