Removal Procedure
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the heated oxygen sensors
  3. Remove the heated oxygen sensors from the catalytic converter.

    4. Object Number: 21661 Size: SH
  4. Remove the catalytic converter bolts at the exhaust manifolds.

    5. Object Number: 21662 Size: SH
  5. Loosen the exhaust pipe clamp bolt at the catalytic converter.
  6. Remove the catalytic converter from the exhaust pipe.

    7. Object Number: 21664 Size: SH
  7. Remove the catalytic converter hanger bolts.
  8. Remove the catalytic converter hanger from the catalytic converter.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 21664 Size: SH
  1. Install the catalytic converter hanger to the catalytic converter.
  2. Install the catalytic converter hanger bolts.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the catalytic converter hanger bolts to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the catalytic converter to the exhaust pipe.
  4. Tighten the exhaust pipe clamp bolt at the catalytic converter.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust pipe clamp bolt to 68 N·m (50 lb ft).

  5. Install the catalytic converter pipe bolts at the exhaust manifolds.
    6. 5.1. Loosely install the converter pipe bolts/screws to the manifolds.
    5.2. Tighten the bolts/screws to specifications alternating back and forth from the right to left manifold flange.

    Tighten
    Tighten the catalytic converter pipe bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  6. Install the heated oxygen sensors to the catalytic converters.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the heated oxygen sensors to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  7. Connect the heated oxygen sensors electrical connectors.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
