🢒 Counter Gear Shaft
Clean the transmission case in a suitable solvent. Air dry the transmission case.
Inspect the transmission case for the following conditions:
•
Cracks
•
Scratches
•
Damaged threads
•
Burrs
•
Nicked mounting surfaces
•
Damaged sealing surfaces
•
Damaged front or rear bearing bores
Replace a cracked housing.
Clean up damaged threads with the correct size thread tap.
Inspect the countershaft bearing race bore for the following:
•
Wear
•
Scratches
•
Grooves
Inspect the machined mating surfaces for flatness. Check the mating surfaces with a straight edge.
Use a fine mill file to dress minor scratches or burrs.
Replace the transmission case if the countershaft bearing race bore is worn or damaged.
