For 1990-2009 cars only
- Clean the transmission case in a suitable solvent. Air dry the transmission case.
- Inspect the transmission case for the following conditions:
- Replace a cracked housing.
- Clean up damaged threads with the correct size thread tap.
- Inspect the countershaft bearing race bore for the following:
- Inspect the machined mating surfaces for flatness. Check the mating surfaces with a straight edge.
- Use a fine mill file to dress minor scratches or burrs.
- Replace the transmission case if the countershaft bearing race bore is worn or damaged.
