Removal Procedure
- Remove the transaxle assembly from the vehicle. Refer to
Transaxle Assembly Removal
in Manual Transmission.
- Remove the clutch release shaft return spring (1) from the clutch release
shaft fork (2).
- Remove the clutch release bearing pin and the clutch release bearing
from the transaxle input shaft sleeve.
- Remove the clutch release shaft cover from the clutch release shaft.
- Remove the clutch release shaft seal and the clutch release shaft upper bushing
from the transaxle case using the J 37973
.
- Remove the clutch release shaft (2) from the transaxle case.
- Remove the clutch release shaft lower bushing (1)
from the transaxle case using the J 37158-A
.
Inspection Procedure
• | Inspect the transaxle input shaft sleeve for scoring or other damage.
If the sleeve is excessively worn or damaged, replace the transaxle case. |
• | Inspect the clutch release shaft return springs for cracks or weakness.
Replace if necessary. |
• | Inspect the clutch release shaft for distortion or damage. Replace if
necessary. |
Installation Procedure
- Install
the clutch release shaft lower bushing (1) into the transaxle case using the J 37159
with the J 36190
.
- Install the clutch release shaft into the transaxle case.
- Install the manual transaxle assembly into the vehicle. Refer to
Transaxle Assembly Installation
in Manual Transmission.
- Lubricate the inside of the clutch release shaft upper bushing and clutch
release shaft seal with GM P/N 1051344 or equivalent.
- Install the clutch release shaft upper bushing
and the clutch release shaft seal into the transaxle case using the J 37973
.
- Stake (2) the transaxle case against the clutch release shaft seal (3)
at the 2 points.
- Install the clutch release shaft cover onto the clutch release shaft.
- Lubricate the clutch release bearing with a thin coat of GM P/N 1051344,
or equivalent.
- Install the clutch release shaft return spring (1) to the clutch release
shaft fork (2).
- Install the transaxle assembly into the vehicle. Refer to
Transaxle Assembly Installation
