  1. Rotate the crankshaft to a position where the connecting-rod bolts are the most accessible.
  2. Mark the connecting rod and the cap with the cylinder position. Mark the orientation of the connecting rod and of the cap. This will ensure the caps and the connecting rods are re-assembled correctly.
  3. Remove the connecting-rod nuts.
  4. Remove the connecting-rod cap with the bearing.

  6. Using a ridge reamer, remove any ridge and all carbon from the top of the cylinder bore in order to avoid damage to the piston ring lands.
  7. Remove the piston and the connecting rod assembly from the cylinder.
