Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the positive battery cable.
- Remove the battery from the battery tray. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the camshaft. Refer to Camshaft Replacement .
- Unclip and remove the intake rocker arms (1) from the rocker-arm shaft.
- Remove the 6 rocker-arm shaft bolts (1).
- Carefully slide the rocker-arm shaft (2) out of the cylinder head while removing the exhaust rocker arms (1) and the springs from the rocker-arm shaft.
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
Installation Procedure
- Apply clean engine oil to the following components:
- After you apply the engine oil to the rocker-arm shafts and to the rocker arms, do the following.Carefully slide the rocker-arm shaft into the cylinder head with the holes facing, while installing the exhaust rocker arms and the springs in the correct sequence.
- Install the rocker-arm shaft bolts (1).
- Install the intake rocker arms (1) onto the rocker-arm shaft in the correct sequence.
- Install the camshaft. Refer to Camshaft Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
- Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
- Install the positive battery cable.
- Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the rocker-arm shaft bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
