Loss of Coolant

Cause

Correction

Leaking radiator

Inspect the radiator. Repair the radiator as necessary.

Faulty radiator cap

Perform the radiator cap pressure test.

Leaking coolant recovery reservoir or a leaking hose

Replace the reservoir or the hose.

The radiator hoses and the heater hoses are loose or damaged.

Reseat the hoses. Replace the hoses or the clamps as necessary.

Leaking coolant pump seal

Replace the coolant pump.

Leaking coolant pump gasket

Replace the gasket.

Incorrect cylinder head torque

Tighten the cylinder head bolts to specifications. Refer to Engine Mechanical. Replace the cylinder head gasket if required.

Leaks in the following components:The intake manifoldThe cylinder head gasketThe cylinder head plugThe heater coreThe heater water valve

Make repairs, or replace the components as necessary in order to correct the leak.
