Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  4. Object Number: 242101 Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the vacuum hose (2) from the fuel-pressure regulator
  6. Disconnect the fuel return hose (3) from the fuel-pressure regulator (1).

  7. Object Number: 242105 Size: SH
  8. Remove the 2 bolts from the fuel-pressure regulator to the fuel rail. Use a shop towel in order to catch any remaining fuel.
  9. Remove the fuel-pressure regulator (1) from the fuel rail (2).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 242110 Size: SH
  1. Apply a thin coat of oil to the new O-ring (1).
  2. Install the new O-ring (1) on the fuel-pressure regulator.

  3. Object Number: 242105 Size: SH
  4. Install the fuel-pressure regulator (1) to the fuel rail (2).
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Secure the fuel-pressure regulator to the fuel rail with the 2 bolts.
  7. Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 8-12 N·m (71-106 lb in).

    Object Number: 242101 Size: SH
  8. Connect the fuel return hose (3) to the fuel-pressure regulator (1), and secure the hose with the clamp.
  9. Connect the vacuum hose (2) to the fuel-pressure regulator (1).
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
  11. Turn on the ignition in order to pressurize the fuel system.
  12. Turn off the ignition.
  13. Find and repair any fuel leaks as necessary.
