Cleaning Procedure
Notice: Do not place the following components in a solvent or cleaner bath:
• | The Throttle Position (TP) sensor |
• | The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve |
• | Any other components containing rubber or electrical parts |
Do not soak the throttle body with these components attached. Keep the
soaking time in the cleaner to a minimum if the throttle body requires cleaning.
Follow these instructions in order to avoid damage to the throttle body unit
and component parts.
Important: Use only Carbon X or an equivalent cold cleaner for soaking the throttle
body assembly.
- Soak the metal parts of the throttle body in a cleaner if necessary.
- Remove any dirt or any carbon from the air passages in the throttle
body.
Caution: Wear safety glasses when using compressed air in order to prevent eye
injury.
- Dry all metal components with compressed air.
- Clean the passages and the throttle bore with compressed air.
