Cleaning Procedure

Notice: Do not place the following components in a solvent or cleaner bath:

   • The Throttle Position (TP) sensor
   • The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve
   • Any other components containing rubber or electrical parts
Do not soak the throttle body with these components attached. Keep the soaking time in the cleaner to a minimum if the throttle body requires cleaning. Follow these instructions in order to avoid damage to the throttle body unit and component parts.

    Important: Use only Carbon X or an equivalent cold cleaner for soaking the throttle body assembly.

  1. Soak the metal parts of the throttle body in a cleaner if necessary.
  2. Remove any dirt or any carbon from the air passages in the throttle body.
  3. Caution: Wear safety glasses when using compressed air in order to prevent eye injury.

  4. Dry all metal components with compressed air.
  5. Clean the passages and the throttle bore with compressed air.
