Removal Procedure

Notice: Do not place the following components in a solvent or cleaner bath:

   • The Throttle Position (TP) sensor
   • The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve
   • Any other components containing rubber or electrical parts
Do not soak the throttle body with these components attached. Keep the soaking time in the cleaner to a minimum if the throttle body requires cleaning. Follow these instructions in order to avoid damage to the throttle body unit and component parts.

  1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.

  2. Object Number: 243074 Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolt (1) and the air inlet duct resonator from the intake plenum.
  4. Disconnect the breather hose from the valve cover (2).
  5. Disconnect the air inlet duct from the throttle body (3).

  6. Object Number: 242542 Size: SH
  7. Rotate the throttle lever to the wide open throttle position.
  8. Remove the accelerator cable end from the slot (1) in the throttle lever.

  9. Object Number: 242541 Size: SH
  10. Disconnect the IAC valve electrical connector (3).
  11. Disconnect the TP sensor electrical connector (4).
  12. Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses (2) from the IAC valve (1) coolant fittings.

  13. Object Number: 242892 Size: SH
  14. Remove the 2 nuts and the 2 bolts that attach the throttle body to the intake plenum.
  15. Remove the throttle body (1) and the gasket (2).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 242892 Size: SH
  1. Install the throttle body (1) and a new gasket (2) to the intake plenum.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Secure the throttle body with the bolts and with the nuts.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the bolts and the nuts to 18-23 N·m (13.5-17 lb ft).

    Object Number: 242541 Size: SH
  5. Connect the 2 coolant hoses (2) to the IAC valve (1) coolant fittings.
  6. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector (3).
  7. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector (4).

  8. Object Number: 242542 Size: SH
  9. Rotate the throttle lever to the wide open throttle position.
  10. Install the accelerator cable end into the slot (1) in the throttle lever.

  11. Object Number: 243074 Size: SH
  12. Connect the air inlet duct to the throttle body, and secure the duct with the clamp (3).
  13. Connect the breather hose to the valve cover (2).
  14. Install the air inlet duct resonator to the intake plenum, and secure the duct with the bolt (1).
  15. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
