Did you perform the Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control System Check?

  1. Place the manual selector in Park.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Test for battery voltage at terminal 4 of the shift lock solenoid connector. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is battery voltage present?

Go to Step 3

Test for a short to voltage in the ORN/WHT wire between the stoplamp switch and the shift lock solenoid. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is a short to voltage present?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Repair the short to voltage in the ORN/WHT wire between the stoplamp switch and the shift lock solenoid. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control System Check

Replace the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
