1. Insert the compact disc (CD).
2. Inspect the CD changer for the following conditions:

Skipping

•

Muting

1. Verify whether the vehicle's usual route is over a rough road or over a dirt road. If so, the condition may be normal.
2. Test the condition on a good road surface.

Go to Step 5

Some discs may contain marks that are not visible. One track or the entire disc may not play.

Test the compact disc using a known good CD changer.

Service the CD changer.

Inspect the CD changer for the following conditions:

Do either of the above conditions exist?

1. Inspect the disc for the following conditions which may cause ERR to display:

•	Incorrectly inserted

•

Dirty

•

Scratched

•

Wet

2. Inspect the disc for moisture condensation. This may be caused by inserting a cold disc into a hot CD player. Wait an hour for the evaporation of the condensation.
3. Test the condition using a known good disc. Verify the condition to the customer.
4. Very high internal temperatures may cause the disc to eject.

Verify the above conditions, and correct any conditions.
