Thia PI was superseded to include the important note of the available IDLs. Please discard PIC4154A.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
There has been a condition identified where the convertible top could become inoperative. The most common symptom is the convertible top will start to operate and come just off the header and then stop. This condition will most likely set code B3685 (S-18)
If you have this code setting, try adjusting the header receiver latch switch (S-18) to see if you can get the switch to operate properly.
S18 adjustment.......
"With the header latch system in the released position, the left a-pillar trim removed, and the header trim pulled out and under the left receiver (refer to the first IDL 12442.10V).
First check the actuation of the S18 switch manually. Do this by manually moving the switch actuation lever with your finger to determine if the switch is making a clicking sound when the lever is pushed and released. If the switch is clicking, refer back to the first IDL for the hook adjustment procedure (final hook to pin spec with the header latched is 19 to 24mm). If the switch will not click when the lever is pushed manually, it may be out of adjustment in relation to the actuator lever. A switch that will not release needs to be adjusted away from the actuator lever very slightly (small adjustments to the S18 switch cause a significant change). Adjustments can be made by loosening (does not need to be removed) the Phillips head screw that secures the S18 switch to the receiver plate. Move the switch away from the actuator lever 1mm at a time until the switch clicks on an off correctly while manually moving the actuation lever with your finger. Re-tighten, and test for proper operation"
If the switch can not be adjusted properly then replace the header latch assembly, clear the codes, and retest for proper convertible top operation.
