Door Glass/Window Freezes and Does Not Index Down When Opening Door (Replace Driver and Passenger Door Window Belt Outer Sealing Strips)

This bulletin is being revised to add the 2007 model year and vehicle build date information, include part numbers and update the information and labor operation time. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 05-08-64-040 (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).

Some customers may comment that under certain cold weather conditions, the door window glass (driver side and/or passenger side) freezes and will not index down when opening the door.

Important: Under normal operation, when the door is opened by the door handle, the door window glass will index down and once the door is closed, the window glass will index back up to its closed position. However, if the door window glass freezes in place and does not index down, with a little more effort the door can still be opened. Damage can be avoided by not immediately closing the door while the window glass is still in the full up position. With the door open, the window glass can be lowered with the key in the ignition in the ON position. Use the door window switch to toggle the window up and down to free up the glass and lower it before closing the door.

This condition may be caused by the door window glass freezing to the belt outer sealing strip at the base of the window glass.

Replace the driver (left) and passenger (right) door window belt outer sealing strips.

1. Position the door window glass to the full down position.
2. Open the door.



3. Remove the 15 Torx® screws from the rear end of the outer sealing strip.
4. Lift up and pull rearward(away from the door flange) on the outer sealing strip to remove. Refer to Front Side Door Window Belt Outer Sealing Strip Replacement (Coupe) in SI.
5. Discard the old door window belt outer sealing strip.
6. Install the new front side door window belt outer sealing strip.
7. Install the 15 Torx® screws into the end of the sealing strip.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m(18 lb in).

8. Repeat this entire procedure on the opposite side of the vehicle.
9. Cycle the window glasses to verify the repair.
