Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Pipe Replacement Up to 03 October 2006

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Replacement.

    2. Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1949792 Size: SH
  2. Disconnect the emission purge pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.

    3. Object Number: 2017833 Size: SH

    Note: Separate the evaporative emission (EVAP) pipes (2, 3) by squeezing the quick connect fitting and separating the 2 connections.

  3. Separate the emission purge pipes (2, 3).
  4. Remove the emission purge pipe bracket retaining screw (4).
  5. Disconnect the emission purge pipe quick connect fitting (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
  6. Remove the emission purge pipe (2, 3).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 2017833 Size: SH
  1. Connect the emission purge pipe quick connect fitting (1).
  2. Install the emission purge pipe bracket retaining screw (4) and tighten to xx N·m (xx lb in).

    3. Note: Push the 2 emission pipes together. Listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.

  3. Connect the emission purge pipes (2, 3).

    4. Object Number: 1949792 Size: SH

    Note: Push the plastic quick connect fitting firmly on to the purge valve solenoid, listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.

  4. Connect the emission purge pipe (1).
  5. Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Replacement.

Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Pipe Replacement After 03 October 2006

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Replacement.

    2. Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning in the Preface section.

  2. Disconnect the emission purge pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.

    3. Object Number: 2017834 Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the emission purge pipe. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
  4. Remove the emission purge pipe (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 2017834 Size: SH

    Note: Push the plastic quick connect fitting firmly on to the metal pipe. Listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.

  1. Connect the emission purge pipe (1).

    2. Object Number: 1949792 Size: SH

    Note: Push the plastic quick connect fitting firmly on to the purge valve solenoid. Listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.

  2. Connect the emission purge pipe (1).
  3. Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Replacement.
