Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 2009 🢒 G8 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 2.8L, 3.0L, 3.2L, or 3.6L 🢒 Oil Pump Cleaning and Inspection

Cleaning Procedure
  1. Clean the oil pump components with non-corrosive solvent.

    2. Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning in the Preface section.

  2. Dry the oil pump components with compressed air.

Inspection Procedure

    Object Number: 1960766 Size: SH

    Note: There are no serviceable components within the oil pump. Disassemble the pump only to diagnose an oiling concern. A disassembled oil pump must not be reused. A disassembled oil pump must be replaced.

  1. Inspect the oil pump housing for damage.

    2. Object Number: 1960767 Size: SH
  2. Inspect the oil pump cover (1) for damage.

    3. Object Number: 1960768 Size: SH
  3. Inspect the inner drive gear (1) for damage. If inner diameter damage is found, ensure the crankshaft is also inspected.

    4. Object Number: 1960769 Size: SH
  4. Inspect the outer driven gear (1) for damage.

    5. Object Number: 1960770 Size: SH
  5. Inspect the oil pump relief valve components (1) for debris or damage.

    6. Object Number: 1960771 Size: SH
  6. Inspect the primary camshaft drive chain lower guide (1) for damage. If replacement of the primary camshaft drive chain lower guide (1) is necessary, replace the entire oil pump assembly. The primary camshaft drive chain lower guide (1) is not serviceable separately.
  7. If debris or damage is present within the oil pump, further inspection of all of the engine components is necessary.
